Test your internal wiring and equipment:

You will need a standard screwdriver and a telephone that is known to be operational.

1. Open the NID using a screwdriver.

2. Unplug the modular plug located inside the NID.

3. Plug a known good phone into the modular jack inside the NID.

If the phone functions properly, then the trouble is in your premise wiring or equipment.

If the phone does not function properly, call the ITS Repair line at 597-4140

4. Unplug the phone and reconnect the modular plug in the NID.

5. Close and screw lock the NID to protect from insects and weather.

Connect your premise wiring to the NID:

Only a screwdriver is required.

1. Open the NID using a screwdriver.

2. Install your inside wiring, push station wire through grommet to terminal area.

The entrance grommets provide a water-tight seal for the station wire. Use a pointed object to punch a hole in the entrance grommet. (Do not slit grommets with a knife.)

3. Slide grommet over the wire before attaching leads.

4. Connect wires to color-coated screw terminals:
RED-to-RED, etc. (Non-standard station wire may utilize RED/GREEN for Line 1 and YELLOW/BLACK for Line 2.)

5. After checking installation, plug in connecting plug to complete access connection.

6. Close and screw lock the NID to protect from insects and weather.
